Resumen

Este estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar la asociación entre condiciones sociodemográficas, hábitos comportamentales y de salud y el riesgo de sarcopenia en personas mayores. Estudio transversal con 277 ancianos atendidos en un centro de referencia en Montes Claros, MG, Brasil. El riesgo de sarcopenia se evaluó mediante el cuestionario SARC-F. Se evaluaron aspectos sociodemográficos, conductuales y percepción de salud. Las razones de prevalencia brutas y ajustadas y los intervalos de confianza del 95% se calcularon mediante regresión de Poisson con varianza robusta. Se observó que el 48,4% (n=134) de los participantes tenían riesgo de sarcopenia. Después del ajuste, ser analfabeto (RP=1,49; IC 95%: 1,16–1,91) y tener una mala salud autopercibida (RP=1,50; IC 95%: 1,06–2,14) se asociaron con riesgo de sarcopenia. Se encontró una alta prevalencia de personas mayores con riesgo de sarcopenia, asociada a baja escolaridad y mala autopercepción de salud. Estos hallazgos resaltan la importancia de los estudios sobre sarcopenia además de la implementación de estrategias preventivas para la población anciana.
